THE STREET LIFE

We are black naggers On the street full of beggars Life is hard, making most of us waggers Don’t forget most of us are twiggers So we hit the street, so our babies will feed A day sick, the household bleeds So we struggle with all kinds of breeds A few noble ones, the rest full of greed. At sunset, we rush home with our little vittle Though not enough, it's quite a mantle We would watch our babies guttle A sight that sometimes makes us tootle. We do this so our children won’t end up as street urchins Though sometimes we wished to be consumed in our sleep by griffins, Click here We will never give up, even in our pains For our children see us as paladins. THE LOST AFRICA

Africa, Africa, Africa; Mother Africa

A continent endowed with minerals of all kinds

Africa, a continent with rich cultures and traditions

Africa, a continent blessed with many natures gift

Africa, a continent with intellectuals

Africa, our very ancestral home.

These are the appellations, the chants, the adjectives

And the likes we use to describe our continent.

But is this the Africa we see?

When our ancestors before our ancestors were in existence,

It was Africa.

Africa is lost now.

The continent we claim it is endowed with minerals of all kinds,

Were ripped almost 60% of it years ago.

The remaining 40% is now largely mined by foreigners.

Is this our Africa?

Where is the rich cultures and traditions we boast of?

Now we practice foreign cultures

And has assimilated foreign traditions.

The very surviving ones are no longer patronized by us

The foreigners come and learn and then twist our history

Africa has been lied to in the history book

Our efforts were not recognized and documented

Where is our Africa?

We now eat separately in plastic bowls with fork and knife

We no longer sit by the fireside during moonlight to listen to

Folktales, fables, legends, myths, wise sayings, taboos etc

From our elders anymore.

It is now telenovelas and Netflix.

Where is our Africa?

Where is our beloved Africa with intellectuals

When our best students seeks for greener pastures elsewhere?

We import the white and pay huge sums of money,

Leaving our very own behind;

But we say we have intellectual.

Where is our intellectual continent,

When our visionary leaders were removed recklessly, bloodily

From positions due to unpatriotism, greed and selfishness

And we entrusted the continent’s future

Into the hands of power-drunk charlatans in suit

Driving us in circles with absolutely no direction

Years after years?

Where is the Africa blessed with many nature’s gift;

When these nature’s gifts are tore down

And are now turned into place of residence and industrial site?

Today, our forest bleed with tears of illegal lumbering

Our waters thirst and wails to our ancestors to be quenched

Our species and wildlife endangered and some extinct

Where is our Africa?

Where is Africa our ancestral home?

Our ancestral home is now in chaos

Innocent blood are shed

Because parties refuse to leave office when they lose elections

Our ancestors lament, unable to sleep

When will theirs pleas be heard?

Today, Africa weep.

For its successors have toe the path of

Greed, mediocrity, corruption, self-slavery, nepotism etc

Our leaders have traded our integrity for foreign loans

And now they value diplomatic passports above customs and norms

And so they cannot talk when their citizens abroad are brutalized

Where is our Africa?

Africa have long peached the message of UNITY

It is time we put it into action

We stop the talking and walk the talking

Enough of kowtowing to foreign voices

We will always be inferior and 2nd choice to them

Africa arise, for OUR AFRICA IS LOST
