THE STREET LIFE

We are black naggers On the street full of beggars Life is hard, making most of us waggers Don’t forget most of us are twiggers So we hit the street, so our babies will feed A day sick, the household bleeds So we struggle with all kinds of breeds A few noble ones, the rest full of greed. At sunset, we rush home with our little vittle Though not enough, it's quite a mantle We would watch our babies guttle A sight that sometimes makes us tootle. We do this so our children won’t end up as street urchins Though sometimes we wished to be consumed in our sleep by griffins, Click here We will never give up, even in our pains For our children see us as paladins. AS THE CLOUDS GATHERS

(Thoughts From Within)

As the clouds gather,
I step out into the open space
And look up into the skies
Wondering how long it will take to pour
And wondering how much the land can savour
Before it starts to vomit the excess as flood.

As the clouds gather,
I think of the lives on the street
How long can they stand still
Waiting for the downpour to settle?
How long can they endure
The winds that blow coldness?
How long can they bear
Been drenched in their wetness?

As the cloud gathers,
I think of the people living in waterlogged areas.
How long can they take in
The stinking smell of the brownish waters?
How long will they continue -
To pray for the cessation of the waters?
How long can they survive
Been surrounded by the waters?
How long will they continue-
To sweep away the waters in their rooms?

As the cloud gathers,
I begin to think of those who may lose their shelter.
Those who may part ways with their hard-earned properties;
Those through no fault of theirs may lose their precious life.

As the cloud gathers,
I also remember the magnificent edifice up the hill
Whose owners may see this as an opportunity
To do away with their waste.

As the cloud gathers,
I think of the farmers--
Who have waited so long for this downpour
They wish it would pour more regularly and in abundance.

As the cloud gathers,
Many are the wishes of the people
But if all wishes were to be horses... (your guess is as good as mine)

So as the cloud gathers
Lord, not our will-
But your will to satisfy all and sundry.
