THE STREET LIFE

We are black naggers On the street full of beggars Life is hard, making most of us waggers Don’t forget most of us are twiggers So we hit the street, so our babies will feed A day sick, the household bleeds So we struggle with all kinds of breeds A few noble ones, the rest full of greed. At sunset, we rush home with our little vittle Though not enough, it's quite a mantle We would watch our babies guttle A sight that sometimes makes us tootle. We do this so our children won’t end up as street urchins Though sometimes we wished to be consumed in our sleep by griffins, Click here We will never give up, even in our pains For our children see us as paladins. THE UNTOLD SACRIFICE

THE UNTOLD SACRIFICE

(A piece to all mothers)

Sacrifices are made daily towards our existence.
But the sacrifices made by one particular being is exceptional.
She opted to stay with a man she loved.
She sacrificed to carry pregnancy for 9 months.

The sour mouth, the spit, the morning throwing-out, the loss of appetite, the pains, swollen legs and frail eyes are among the predicaments she encounters.
Some endures till labor, others do not see labor (sobs)

The 9 months journey ends in the labor ward.
With pains and cries with tears coupled with their faint strengths, they are encouraged to push, to push harder and harder till the bouncing baby comes out.
Some however have to go through caesarian section. (The aftermaths of this; another story)

The tears of some turns to joy when they hold their babies.
Some continues to shed tears uncontrollably because they unfortunately lose their babies. (Hearts bleeds).
Others don’t get to see their babies likewise their babies will have to only see the photographic memory of their biological Moma. (Hearts sobs within)

The motherly journey begins and their former life disappears.
Some lose their shapes, others lose their beauty, others are also confined to wheel chairs whiles others begins to have entirely new features – what a sacrifice this is.

They begin to breastfeed; morning, afternoon, evening and midnight not forgetting the regular changing of diapers and washing.
They become restless and tries to always make their babies smile and happy till they grow.
They alone understands the cries of their babies.
They begin to think of what their child would eat forgetting they themselves haven’t eaten.
They will remove the last piece in their mouth and give it out to their child.

Some sell their cloths and properties to cater for their children.
Some have to turn borrowers and receive insults when they fail to payback on time.
Some barely sleep well enough after giving birth.
They keep doing this and praying, giving advices even till their babies turns into a man and beyond.

She is indeed a virtuous woman and her price is far above rubies or gold – just priceless.
She works tirelessly and rises also whiles it is still night.
She is simply the Proverb 31 woman not a slay queen.
She doesn’t choose pizzas and burgers over the welfare of her children.
She doesn’t fancy clubbing and shopping and social media likes over the safety of her children.
She waits on her God and work her dreams to fruition.

She is an epitome of beauty with brains.
She is a human.
She is a woman.
She is a mother

I doff my heart to all responsible and dedicated mothers.
Your untold sacrifices is still within the confines of our heart.
We won’t ever forget our first love.
We won't ever forget what you did for us.
We won’t ever forget to celebrate you.
The young ladies will have to continue looking up to you.
They will surely learn from your sacrifices.

My sweet Mommy, you got one here.
Happy mother’s day.
Happy mother’s day to all mothers both living and departed.
God continue to bless you all wherever you are.
